Application of production wastes as an alternative environmentally-safe fuel

GRADOIL applies sunflower husk as the primary fuel instead of natural gas and fuel oil previously used at processing plants of Ukrainian oil and fat industry thereby reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Thus, the Company makes its contribution to the global program to preserve environmentally-safe conditions on the planet.

By burning wastes of the vegetable oil production (sunflower husk), the Company generates water steam providing operation of technological equipment as well as the domestic needs of the factory.

During construction of own boiler shop, the preference was made to modern equipment with innovative process technologies of fuel combustion and flue gas purification using electrostatic cleaners, which allow to meet the requirements of modern standards.

Purification of spent air and production waste water using modern technologies

Along with fabrication of high-quality and safe products, the Company has set a goal to preserve the environment at the production sites without the negative impact caused by production wastes. Therefore, the wasteless production layout was selected during the factory designing and construction.

All technological processes that use atmospheric air (cleaning of raw materials, fractionation of semi-finished products at the dehulling department, cooling of semi-finished products and oil meal) are accompanied with mandatory cleaning and decontamination of spent air using integrated suction plants of the world leading brands. The aspiration cleaning system underwent commissioning and successfully operates according to schedules of planned cleaning and preventive maintenance.

To achieve the specified performance of treating industrial wastewater by COD, BOD, suspended solids and detergents, the three-stage purification system was designed and put into operation that implements modern technologies (application of centrifugal force for the first time) of sludge dewatering by the special equipment manufacturing by a leading global producer. This technology allows efficient separation of sludge and significantly saves production space.

To minimize costs and manage efficiently production activity at the factory, the system is installed to account consumption of water, power energy, treated industrial and sewage effluents.
